Hey, my friend just got admission in a college and since she is not a US citizen or permanent resident. So, she needed a co-signer who is one but unfortunetly she couldnt get one cuz no one other then your own family member will trust u and sign and affidavit or co-sign a loan. Now her aunt who came with her husband on his work visa, been living for 9 yrs, recetly went out of status(I dont know the reason as its personal) has bank account and of course some savings. So my friend's aunt signed the Affidavit for my friend that was required by the university in order to process the student visa. Now after the application is filed, my friend is worried and maybe you can help her answer the questions. Her english isnt so good so Im going this for her(thu mine is bad too :)
-I do know one thing that if a person getting a student loan is not a US citizen/permanent resident she/he would need a co-signer who is one and I also know that for sure that the loan agency check the credit history of a co-signer. SO,since my friend's aunt isnt a permant resident or a US citizen(she is out of status in fact) so she cannot be my friend's co-signer for the student loan BUT what about Affidavit?
do the Immigration check the backgound of the person who signed the Affidavit, attached with her bank statments, for the student visa process or they mainly will check the student's background? my friend is concerned as she doesnt want her aunt to be in any trouble!

Hello
I came to us on h4 visa . after comming here i joined a university and applied for change of status to f1 and it is approved. I am planning a trip to india. do i need to go to indian consulate for f1 visa? if i have to go wat r the chances of rejecting f1 visa? if my f1 visa gets rejected can i come back on h4 visa? is my h4 visa valid? or do i need to apply for h4 visa again? and if i apply wat r the chances of approval ? please help me i am in a tough situation. please i need ur advise. thank u :)
Since your spouse is in US on H1, do you know if she/he filed for his I-140/I-485. If so, there are chances that your F-1 visa can be rejected on the grounds of "potential immigrant" even though your I-485 is not filed. F-1 can be rejected because your spouse has shown immigrant intent which means you could be a potential immigrant as well.
Otherwise, if you have all the documents (educational background from accredited university, bank statements, valid I-20), you should get your F-1 visa without any issues. If for some reason its denied, then you can use your current valid H4 visa to re-enter US on H4. In that case, you will again roll back to H4 status upon re-entry.

In Wake of Immigration Law, Calls for an Economic Boycott of Arizona - NYTimes.com (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/27/us/27arizona.html?ref=us)
La Opinin, the nations largest Spanish-language newspaper, urged a boycott in an editorial Monday, as did the Rev. Al Sharpton, and calls for such action spread to social media sites. The San Francisco city attorney and members of the Board of Supervisors said they would propose that the city not do business with the state.
They followed the lead of Representative Ral M. Grijalva, Democrat of Arizona, who had urged conventions to skip the state, though other Democrats who oppose the law, including Mayor Phil Gordon of Phoenix, pleaded for people not to punish the entire state.
Tourism and convention managers, struggling to rebound from the recession, said it was too soon to tell if the effort would have an impact, but some businesses said people were turning away from the state.
At the Arizona Inn in Tucson, the manager, Will Conroy, said that over the weekend 12 customers canceled reservations or said they would not return to the state because of the law.
Tourism officials said such accounts were not widespread, but they were concerned that the rancor was tarnishing the states image and were mindful of the boycott in the 1980s that led to Arizonas officially observing Martin Luther Kings Birthday after initially rejecting it as a holiday.

Antonio - the English translation would be Great Egret. Once in a while we'll see a one or two perched on railings at the state parks around here but they always take off when we get closer.
